Hazelnut + chocolate are match made flavors in this Nutella Coquito. It’s heaven in a drink. Made with cream of coconut, cinnamon, vanilla extract, as well as almond extract, this Nutella flavored coquito is creamy and rich.
Similar to my original authentic coquito recipe, this creamy Nutella version is perfectly sweet and provides the best of both worlds – chocolatey and boozy!
How to Make the BEST Nutella Coquito
Making coquito is all about balancing flavors and the same applies to this hazelnut flavored coquito recipe.
Ideally, you want a Nutella coquito that highlights the coconut flavor and the chocolate without being overly sweetened.
How do you accomplish that when Nutella is extremely sweet, and so is cream of coconut in traditional coquito? Challenge accepted.

Tips & Tricks
Here are my tips and tricks to making a delicious and well balanced Nutella Coquito that isn’t too sweet and still honors the core flavors of coconut, hazelnut, and chocolate.
- Remove the sweetened condensed milk. You don’t need it when you’re using Nutella – it has all the extra sweetness you need.
- Add almond extract. When you look at the ingredients in Nutella spread, you’ll notice a large amount of hazelnuts. Almonds (or in this case almond extract) is an obvious compliment to the nutty flavor.
These small tweaks allow the coquito to actually taste like coquito, and achieve the perfect harmony of coconut and chocolate hazelnut flavors.
Ingredients
The shopping list for Nutella flavored coquito ingredients is straight forward. You will need:
