This delicious and nutty Pistachio Coquito recipe is mixed with cream of coconut, all-natural pistachio spread, cinnamon, and almond extract. It’s perfectly balanced and oh so smooth.
Although my love for original authentic coquito is endless, during the holiday season I often crave a subtly unique coquito flavor, and my pistachio flavored coquito is a solid choice.
How to Make the BEST Pistachio Coquito
Flavored versions of coquito can be a fun experiment, but can easily end up overwhelmingly sweet and artificially tasting, especially without the right touch.
Many pistachio flavored coquito recipes include pistachio ice cream which contains very little of the natural flavoring of this sweet, fragrant nut.

My pistachio coquito recipe packs all the nutty flavor without the green food coloring additives or the artificial flavorings.
Here are the tips and tricks I recommend to make the best pistachio flavored coquito:
- Stick to natural ingredients. Consider using crushed pistachio or a crunchy pistachio spread to give your coquito a more realistic flavor and texture.
- Say goodbye to food coloring. Just because pistachio is a green colored nut, it doesn’t require you to amp up the color with green food dye.
- Consider complementary nut flavors. Pistachio is a nut after all, so it lends itself well to other nut flavors like almond, hazelnut, and pine nut.
- You can incorporate these complementary flavors through extracts, pastes, infused alcohols, essences, or through garnishes.
Ingredients

To make this naturally flavored Pistachio Coquito you’ll need to following ingredients:
- Cream of coconut
- Chopped pistachios (unsalted)
- Pistachio spread (preferred brand: Flora Crunchy Pistachio Spread)
- Evaporated milk
- Sweetened condensed milk
- Cinnamon
- Almond extract
- Vanilla extract
- White rum
- Cognac (optional)

The thing I love most about coquito is the versatility. Even though at my core I’m a purest. I’m all for cool, funky versions. Here are other flavored versions that are crowd favorites:
